One of the first initiated disciples of Srila Prabhupada in Germany, His Grace Bharata Prabhu contributed significantly to the expanion of iskcon in Germany, through his untiring work and service attitude.
Bharata Prabhu impressed me and many others through his dedication to the preaching and the BTG magazine distribution in the early years and later his full time dedication to book distribution for a long time - as for his great focus and discipline in his daily services and his fast typing of translations on an old bulky type writer in the Hamburg temple.
Those were the happy days… To his last breath he remained in the association of devotees.
We pray for his mercy, being confident of his having attained the highest destination - full shelter at the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada. Your insignificant servant Nikhilananda Dasa

When we were called yesterday night about the passing of our beloved godbrother Bharata Prabhu, we were not at home, and we tried to reach Astasiddhi Mataji and Janamanalaya Prabhu this morning without success.
On behalf of the German disciples of Srila Prabhupada, I am expressing our grief about the loss of his association in this world and our sympathy with his family and friends.
We will no doubt see him again in another life when we will all distribute Srila Prabhupadas books together again. Probably, because he left before us, at that time he will allready be a great general in Srila Prabhupada’s transcendental army to lead us in the service to our beloved spiritual master.. » mehr «

With a sad heart I just read about your passing. Now this mortal world has lost another of Srila Prabhupada’s dear disciples.
Nevertheless, many fortunate souls had the opportunity to meet you while you were distributing books on the streets of Germany in the 70s and 80s, and who knows how many of them have been elevated by coming in contact with you, a sincere representative of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya. I will always remember with fondness your association in the early days of the Hamburg temple, in Bartelsstrassse and later Kapitelbuschweg. » mehr «

Lieber Bharata Prabhu,
Du hast so viele Bhagavad-Gitas in ganz Deutschland verteilt, dass Du eigentlich einen Orden dafür verdient hättest, eine Medaille für außerordentliche Leistungen, so wie es sie auch in jedem anderen gut organisierten Verein gibt.
Bitte vergebe uns für unsere Unzulänglichkeit, Dich angemessen zu würdigen, für all die vielen Jahre Deines stetigen Dienstes, für die Verbreitung des Krischnabewußtseins in Deutschland, für all Deine Hingabe an Srila Prabhupada, Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, unserem Sweet Lord Govinda und Sri Sri Radha-Madana-Mohana.
Lieber Bharata, Du warst uns immer ein großes Vorbild und Inspiration und hattest immer eine Schulter an die man sich anlehnen konnte, wenn es einem mal nicht so gut ging. Dann erzähltest Du uns immer Geschichten aus dem Mahabharta oder aus der Gita, um uns zu trösten und unser Bewußtsein wieder zu stabilisieren.

Was Bharata Prabhu betrifft, so gibt es bestimmt so einiges, was ich mit ihm erlebt habe, doch das ist fast 30 Jahre her, und in der Zwischenzeit hatten wir ja auch kaum Kontakt, außer einmal per Telefon im Januar 2006 und danach etwa 10 Tage, bevor er diese Welt verließ.

Bharata Prabhu war unermüdlich, was das Verteilen von Srila Prabhupadas Büchern anbelangte, und er erzählte auch mir des Öfteren von dem Leben auf der Strasse, den skurrilen Erlebnissen - überhaupt von der Aufgabe, durch das Verteilen von Srila Prabhupadas Büchern dem wirklichen Predigen eine gesunde und wachsende Grundlage zu geben, ganz besonders auch den Fortschritt des eigenen spirituellen Lebens erheblich zu beschleunigen. Er sagte mir, du kannst zu den Leuten stundenlang predigen, doch wenn du es versäumst, ihnen ein Buch von Prabhupada zu geben, werden sie alles wieder vergessen. Dieses Buch mitzunehmen macht die Begegnung zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. » mehr «

Für die Seele gibt es weder Geburt noch Tod. Auch hört sie - da sie einmal war - niemals auf zu sein. Sie ist ungeboren, ewig, immerwährend, unsterblich und urerst. Siewird nicht getötet, wenn der Körper erschlagen wird.

Nur der Materielle Körper des unzerstörbaren, unmeßbaren und ewigen Lebewesens kann vernichtet werden. Wisse, das, was den gesamten Körper durchdringt, ist unzerstörbar. Niemand kanndie unvergängliche Seele töten.

I so hope at the time of your death you were remembering Krsna and as such, you have been promoted to the eternal association of Krsna. If not, if you had any tinge of material desire, you have gone to the celestial kingdom to live with the demigods for many thousands of years and enjoy the most opulent life of material existence. From there you can promote yourself to the spiritual world. But even if one fails to promote himself to the spiritual world, at that time he comes down again on the surface of this globe and takes birth in a big family like a yogis' or a brahmanas' or an aristocratic family, where there is again chance of reviving Krsna Consciousness. But as you were hearing Krsna-kirtana, I am sure that you were directly promoted to Krsna-loka. ...
